A new Hawkshead addition, this chutney also contains apples and is great with Cheese, Ham or Beef, it even works well with smoked fish such as Smoked Mackerel. It is loaded with beets and just enough horseradish to heat things up; we love it.
The Hawkshead Relish Company is small and young - they just opened their doors in rural Cumbria in 2001 and already they've taken home over 30 Great Taste Awards for their handmade Handmade Relishes, Pickles and Preserves - they use no artificial colourings, flavourings or preservatives. All of their products are handmade at Hawkshead in the English Lake District using the finest, freshest ingredients, including Spices that are roasted and ground as they are required ensuring the freshness.
Great Taste Awards Speciality Producer of the Year 2005 - not bad for a company that struggled through the foot and mouth crises of 2001 when their café trade disappeared. It was then that the husband and wife team - Mark and Maria Whitehead - decided to release the relishes, jams and sauces that they made and served in the café to a wider audience by selling them to local delicatessens and farm shops. These have now become so popular that they closed the café to concentrate on the relishes and bring the range up to 100 different products. | | | Features: | |
